Monday, April 21, 6-8 PM: Protecting the Ocean: Ocean Entrepreneurship

Protection + safety have a variety of meanings, different for the Coast Guard and Navy than for marine biologists and climate scientists. Preservation efforts of the Bay Area's Mission Blue nonprofit provide a perspective. Blue Tech companies and investors are attuned to the ocean as an environment for commercial opportunity. We will explore how, even in this charged political environment, best practices can prevail.

This event features a roundtable discussion, moderated by Janelle Kellman, Candidate for Lt. Governor of California and Former Mayor of Sausalito, with:

  • Richard Berman, leading in Sustainability for Port of SF

  • Mayor Eduardo Martinez of Richmond, Ca.

  • Seamus Murphy, Executive Director at San Francisco Bay Ferry

  • Liz Taylor, President, Deep Ocean Exploration and Research (DOER Marine) in Alameda, Ca.

Energy Innovators Network (EIN), organizers of this event, recently launched the Hub for Blue Green Maritime, a first-ever service organization for the SF Bay Area, connecting early-stage companies to investors and nonprofits, researchers and universities, journalists, media, and news outlets, helping pioneers in this sector to flourish and to succeed. We advocate for responsible stewardship of waters, shores, and sealife.

Tuesday, April 22, dive into the future of ocean technology with the Bay Area’s Blue Tech innovators for drinks, light bites, a technology showcase, and stunning views of the City.

The following innovators will be showcasing:

CalWave develops technology that generates power from ocean waves and exports that power to microgrids and utility-scale grids. They will showcase their x1 pilot unit, which was deployed offshore San Diego for nearly a year.

Dolphin Labs enables enhanced maritime domain awareness to improve the safety and security of our offshore natural resources and critical infrastructure through smaller scale wave energy systems.

Natel specializes in data-driven hydraulic design of FishSafe™ hydropower turbines to improve downstream fish passage.

Navier builds all-electric hydrofoiling vessels that soar above the water on underwater wings. They will showcase their all-electric hydrofoil marine vessel.

Bedrock Ocean provides high resolution seafloor data via rapid, fleet-based, autonomous surveys. They will showcase their AUV technology.

Deep Ocean Exploration and Research (DOER) provides access to the ocean through responsible and sustainable design, manufacture, and deployment of cutting edge submersibles and related technologies.

Energy Innovators Network connects people and companies to resources through its Hub for Blue Green Innovation, with multiple Bay Area partners and allies.
